Art On Leather from Artist Karl
Commission - your leather jacket artwork
Currently restricted to UK based customers only
The Basics
If you would like to have a commission and don't really know where to start here are a few things for you to consider.
Decide on what sort of image you want to have, even if you do not have a full idea, some guidelines would help, we can discuss and refine it through text, email and images. Is there something similar that you have seen?
Do you have a deadline? I will always endeavour to try and meet deadlines but I do have other art commitments to work around.
The whole design process from start to completion is a step by step collaboration between us both.
I cannot create artwork on suede leather jackets or faux leather jackets.
The Design
Most people tend to have a rough idea of what they want painting on their jacket. I can digitally put some artwork together for you to look at. If you can email or text me a photo of the back of your own jacket/waistcoat, I can superimpose the artwork on it so that you will get an idea as to how it will look. You may decide to make it bigger/smaller or add lettering.
Once you have roughly agreed on the artwork composition I will give you a quotation. You can make changes and I will requote. When you are happy with it all, then you send me your jacket in the post (I always advise making sure it is sent special delivery insured). As soon as I receive your jacket, I will check that it is suitable to paint (I haven't had to refuse a jacket yet!) double check the artwork details with you and give you a fixed price (which will be the same as the quotation if no changes have been made).
As soon as you are happy and wish to proceed I will require a 50% deposit which you can ether pay direct in to my account, or I can send you a secure invoice to pay by credit card.
I can tell you when I am able to start painting your jacket and when you can expect to receive it completed before any money is exchanged. A deposit gets you a fixed place in the queue at busy times!
I take photographs throughout the creation of your artwork to keep a record of the progress and I can keep you updated if you wish. Some customers prefer to wait until the item is finished. Once your jacket is almost complete, I will send you images so that you can make any final tweaks.
As soon as the jacket is finished the remainder of the money is due including the return postage. You can decide if you wish to have it delivered by Royal Mail (subject to size restrictions), by DHL or arrange collection of the artwork yourself. If we dispatch your artwork, we always advise it is sent fully insured. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
Once the account is settled in full, I will post your jacket back to you. To download a PDF document with this information please click HERE
The Cost
As a rough guideline, on average, you can expect to pay between £180 to £375 to have your jacket painted. This assumes you have an idea of what you want (album cover/airplane with some lettering for example). All postage costs are covered by the customer.
I always provide a quotation with a costings breakdown for any artwork there will be no hidden costs. You see the price & a digital representation of the design before you commit to anything.
Some customers require my bespoke artwork design skills where nothing similar already exists and a complete new design is required - I am very happy to quote for this type of work too.
