15 August 2018
Oh dear - we are 2/3rds into 2018 and this is my first blog.
My workload has been non stop since the day we ate our Christmas dinner!!!
With customer commissions, exhibitions and leather jackets to paint the year has just whizzed by.
I am currently half way through a batch of 50+ jackets for a corporate customer and then I have other customer commissions to attend to.
If you are thinking of having something painted for yourself, a friend or loved one for Christmas, then please get in touch soonest so that we can start planning your idea and booking you in on the diary.
Whilst trading at Art in the Pen Skipton recently some customers made a surprise visit to see me - all wearing their jackets I had painted! It was great to catch up with Keith and Janet and meet Jamie and Angela. Jamie is the lead singer in the Baldy Holly Band - his jacket looked as good as the day I painted it.
This was the first time I had met Jamie - his jacket idea and design was handled via email and then he posted his jacket to me to paint - this is pretty much the norm - so if you have an idea for artwork on the back of your jacket (or front!) then just send me an email with the details and I will give you an idea on price.
If you could also email me a photo of the back of your jacket (get it as flat as you can) then I can make a digital 'mock up' so you can see how your idea would look on the back of your own jacket. Quotations provided without obligation. Contact me here.
19 November 2017
The formal exhibitions are now out of the way now so I can get back to painting jackets and waistcoats and catching up on commissions.
October/November jackets included remembrance themed artwork which was poignant yet stunning (idea and design by the customer) and by total contrast Angel themed artwork based on the popular Captain Scarlett series for a fan who knew exactly what they wanted.
The corporate work of handbags and jackets continues in the background.........
The calendar designs for 2018 have arrived from the printers - this year there are two types of design, one with jacket images and the other with more traditional wall art. Calendars are only available from me and there is limited availability. If you are interested in one please get in touch they are £8.99 including P&P to UK addresses.

Please excuse my lack of blogging but I have been so busy doing corporate work (limited edition jackets and handbags to mention just a few). Sorry but I am unable to post images of corporate work, which is such a pity as they are pretty awesome!
I have a bit of a breather now that London Fashion Week has started and Paris Fashion is just around the corner so I can get on with creating new pieces of artwork for the shows in October (in York) and November (in Windsor) see exhibitions page for details. If you would like access to free private view tickets for either event please get in touch to see if I have any left.
I have a few paintings lined up and ready to start..... and something quite different to my usual tigers, leopards etc. Of course I will still be doing more of them also, as they are such beautiful creatures.
I have just completed a leather jacket commission in time for a big Blackpool event which I can share with you below.
I do not charge extra for commissions, my pricing structure is the same for all my art and is based on time, structure and framing options If it is art for the wall.
5 April 2017
My first painting demo of the year has now been done.
Bromyard Speed Festival is now behind us - what a great day Sunday was! Trading in the Clive Richards Hall meant we were close enough to still be able to see all of the action of the day.
I also managed to do quite a bit of painting - my demonstration of art on leather. Visitors throughout the day kept popping back to see how the artwork was progressing.
I decided to paint on a child's leather jacket for this demo - a simple cartoon style. It is a portfolio piece so if you are interested in it (or having something similar done please get in touch).
Next stop...... Bath Art Event this weekend. I will be painting my way through that event too as I have a couple of elephant paintings I need to make some progress on. Pop in and see me - I am on stand 30.

Lots going on with jacket commissions which can hopefully be revealed after Christmas/in the New Year! Keep your eye on the Customer Commissions page for updates.
Very busy with the fashion industry and some celebrity orders............ but that's all hush hush.
At the time of writing this blog I have just 5 calendars left so if you fancy treating yourself, don't delay because - as they say - once they are gone....
Lots of new artwork planned for January - some of which I am unable to share due to confidentiality, but artwork I am able to share will be added to my websites.
I don't just paint on jackets, bags, boots airplane panels as commissions, I also paint on leather hides which are then framed and hung on the wall.
I also create art in the more traditional methods on board, canvas and paper using acrylics, oils and pencils/graphite.
Check out my other artwork on www.artistkarl.com to see wildlife, figurative, automotive, military themes etc and there is an online shop too.
Thank you to customers new and old for your support - without you - I would have nothing to do!
Hope you all have a lovely festive break. Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2017.

Welcome to my blog regarding my art handpainted (not airbrushed) on leather.
Activity in the studio is at full speed! Trying to get ready for the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair 11-13 November (wildlife subjects on leather) as well as painting leather handbags for my corporate customers in the Fashion World.
I have 3 full panel jacket commissions also on the go at the moment and each piece has been designed by the jacket owners.
Customers are truly inspiring at times...... First you think you aren't sure what you want but have a few thoughts that might be a starter for ten and before we know it, after bouncing a few digital image mock ups and ideas around, you end up with a truly AWESOME design. I do hope that the owners' of the jackets I am doing at the moment give me permission to post them on this website for you to see.
I will also be attending a Military event at Malvern Showground on Sunday 20 November and will have lots of painted jacket samples with me to give you plenty of ideas and stir those creative thoughts of yours up....... the ones you didn't even know you had!
Just give me a call if you want to discuss any possible jacket art ideas 07775 782369 between 9am - 9pm.
